WINTER COMPS ARE BACK BABY! 2025

This year we are running THREE monthly competitions over winter PLUS a Southern Bluefin Tuna JACKPOT!

June: Longest Snapper - Automatic free entry for members

$300 Marine Deals Voucher + Rod/Reel combo

  • Clear photos or video of the fish on a reputable measure matt/sticker
  • Remember to fill in an official catch sheet and get it to the club because there is an end of year trophy for longest snapper also!

July: GRAND SLAM! - Automatic free entry for members

$300 Marine Deals Voucher + Rod/Reel combo

  • Total weight of your biggest Snapper+Kahawai+Gurnard for the month!
  • These fish can be caught on separate days, as long as they were all in the month of July
  • We will count your heaviest of each species if you weigh more than one
  • If no one manages to weigh one of all three species, the competition will jackpot to next year

August: The Grunter Punter! - Entry form required, optional entry fee amount.

Back yourself to be the best!

  • Pay an entry fee of your choice between $10-$100 (These numbers are also the minimum and maximum punts)
  • If you catch the heaviest gurnard for the month of August, the club will pay you 10x your entry PLUS everyone else's entry fees! So the higher you punt, the more money you could win!
  • Example: Joe chooses to enter @ $50 and wins. He is paid out $500 cash PLUS the entry fees of all other competitors.

Rules:

All current financial MSFC members are automatically in the 'free to enter' competition (MUST BE CURRENT BEFORE GOING FISHING). You must also be a current financial member to enter the paid tournaments.

For the 'Longest' fish competition, photo/video of the fish clearly on a measure mat, showing the head and tail lined up on markers and the length measurement clearly in shot to be sent to club@msfc.org.nz for recording. The committee reserves the right to decline any entries that we deem not clear enough to interpret in the given photo/video.

When weighed at any NZSFC affiliated club scales, signed weigh sheets will suffice (photos would be nice).

NON NZSFC affiliated club scales: Fish can be weighed on any up-to-date certified scales, accompanied by a photo of the fish and the angler, a photo of scale weight and of the scales certificate.

All weigh sheets must be in before the month ends to allow organizers time to finalize winners before presentation of awards at the next club night.

Monthly competitions are strictly Manukau fishing grounds only (Manukau harbour and out wide as far south as Raglan, as far north as Kaipara)

Tuna Jackpot can be fished anywhere in NZ waters

All fishing to follow IGFA and club rules.

Competitions run for the entire length of their designated month with the exception of the Tuna Jackpot which will run from June-August.

Any cheating will result in disqualification at the committee and organizers discretion

All fees will be held by MSFC
